My path, creative and professional alike, began in science. For years I worked in genetics and defended a dissertation, becoming what is now called a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). But dry academic science left little room for anything creative. I started experimenting with genres, moving from scientific writing towards popular science, and in time towards journalism.
The hobby became a profession. For several years I worked in journalism proper, for print titles and news sites, and joined the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. Varied work with glossy magazines came with it, the first of them the legendary Playboy, later joined by EGO, XXL, B-52 and Kolizey. I did not leave popular science behind either, publishing regularly in Nauka i Tekhnika (Science and Technology), Ochevidnoye i Neveroyatnoye, Otkrytiya i Gipotezy (Discoveries and Hypotheses), Russian Emirates and others.
Hundreds of stories and many dozens of interviews widened my view of the world considerably, and taught me to take up an unfamiliar subject quickly and write about it competently.
Alongside that I began studying self-development in earnest. Working with wikiGrowth gave me a way to deepen what I knew while being useful to other people, for whom I try to prepare material as informative and as accurate as I can make it.
The guiding principle of my writing is “first, do no harm”. So I set out only what has stood the test of time and carries what is called scientific consensus. All of it passes through the lens of my own experience, and I understand that it is genuinely useful. Even on contested subjects I avoid careless claims, and I am entirely calm if my articles are read by children, because nothing in them can do them harm.
I am actively developing frameworks of my own for personal and professional effectiveness in the modern world. The first of them, Kairos management, can be found in my blog on this site. The second is about overcoming multitasking and carries the working title “multifunctionality”.
There have been many interests and many professions, but one thing runs through all of them: the development of the personality, a subject growing more relevant every year and turning into a real recipe for success for people of the twenty-first century.
